Nader-Gonzalez 2008

by now you know that Ralph Nader has picked a VP: Matt Gonzalez. go to www.votenader.org for more info on their campaign. i haven't been the biggest Nader fan but Matt is AWESOME! Nader is running as in Independent, so now i have 3 choices:

1)write in Hillary
2)vote Green (Cynthia McKinney?)
3)vote Nader-Gonzalez

honestly, option 3 is looking better everyday. i haven't given up on Hillary, though!

and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

Cancer waiting to happen...

i remember a tv ad campaign focused towards black american moms (and all parents, really) that portrayed a young black mom calling her daughter's pediatrician (or doctor/hospital) and saying that her daughter was experiencing an asthma attack. we see a child in distress, having difficulty breathing. when the camera pans away from the mom on the phone, we see that mom is smoking a cigarette. if i have gotten any part of the commercial wrong, i'm sorry. i have not seen it in awhile.
what message is Senator Obama sending his own girls and the parents of America?

If the Devil were a Democrat...

this is the face of the man who will destroy the Democratic Party. now, who will have to repair it? me and you. get out the SUPERdelegateGLUE!

Halliburton, pay us back, too!

a retired US army colonel admitted to taking bribes from a Kuwati-based firm. the bribes were $4,000 dollars and $5,000 trip to Thailand. this colonel could face 33 months in jail and has promised to pay back THE US GOVERNMENT $9,000.

OMG! a whopping $9,000 bribe! and what has Halliburton raped(sic) in from it's illegal contracts? how much will Halliburton repay the US taxpayers? how many contracts were awarded to companies that lobby and fund Congressional campaigns?

i hope and pray Kucinich manages to have Bush impeached. then, some of these Halliburton-esque rapists may have their feet put to the fire.

IMPEACH BUSH! Bribe a Republican...they'll do it for the money.

Going Green?

because Hillary has suspended her campaign and the DNC elected Obama, i have been thinking about the best way to vote. i cannot support Obama, even if Hillary is offered the VP (she won't be offered it). although i admire McCain in many ways, i do not want 4 more years of war; 4 more years of right-wing bullshit. i would like to write in Hillary in the GE. however, the Green Party appeals to me on many levels. so, i have been looking into Going Green. i have already purchased merchandise from them and i have signed up for their e-newsletter. maybe this will be the best solution for me. we'll see.

see you in 2012 Senator Clinton!! i am not giving up on you!

Oh, those crazy Hispanics!

true library story:

an elderly female patron (that none of us like) scotch taped a note to a book and got goo on the cover. someone mentioned this to the circ head and she approached the patron in the nicest way and simply asked her not to tape anything on books. BIG mistake.

this patron loves to talk, which is partly why no one likes her. some of the things that come out of her mouth make us uncomfortable or downright angry.

the circ head got involved in a conversation that she could not get out of. she mentioned her new dog and the patron began talking about her own dog. i really was trying to tune it all out when i heard the patron say: "I don't like Chihuahuas. Those Hispanics are always trying to push their Chihuahuas on us!!"

i did a doubletake. i could not wrap my head around what she just said! it was too crazy, so racist and WEIRD! so, of course i had to run in the back and tell everyone what i just heard. MY GOD!

i said: "gee, i wish someone would push a Chihuahua on ME! i WANT one!"

sometimes the racism in this country IS blatant and sometimes it is subtle and sometimes it is just ABSURD. it is never tolerable, of course, but how do you respond to a remark like that?
